Cool People That Support Us

People have been supporting this site and it's development for years now and I wanted to give a shout out to everyone who helped to get the site rolling. First and foremost thanks to anyone who uses and enjoys the site; we hope you're finding and selling art, and it's easy and simple. Beyond that, extended thanks are issued to the following people, who we really appreciate:)

Artists Who Contributed Art

Michael William Kaluta ~ Kaluta.com
Michael did this piece as an initial logo for the site way back in 2004. Kaluta is one of those great 1970s demi-gods of the comic world, and his art really has a detailed and organic style to it that's very elegant. Thanks to my friend Katie's social-networking coolness, I was able to strike up a friendship and explained the site to him. He was willing to contribute this gorgeous gem, which is now used as our welcome graphic on the homepage.
Whilce Portacio ~ WhilcePortacio.Net
Whilce has long been one of my heroes in comics. He is the consumate artist. He can thrive on any topic, in any medium...pencils, inks, colors...any, a fluctuation of unique style few can touch. Whilce was nice enough to do this piece for me for the NY Comiccon in 2007 and let me use it on my site for the New User Registration. To me this is a gorgeous example of genius black and white art. It's a piece not meant to be colored. Whilce plays with a lot of textures in this too, which are not the easiest in B&W. I really just think Whilce rules...
Artist Profile & Available Art
Matt Faulkner ~ MattFaulkner.com
Matt's work I first noticed for his awesome illustrations in Computerworld magazine. A really fun, detailed style usually full of fairy tales and cool characters. Matt was nice enough to do a drawing for the site which is used when there is 'No Artist Image Available', probably the most common image on the site now!
Artist Profile & Available Art
Jyrki Vainio
Jyrki is a Finnish artist who completely rocks:) After much begging and pleading he finally produced this gem for when a piece of art does not have an image. Perfectly suited to the site and full of Jyrki's wonderful cartoonish style!

Web Industry Folk Who Contributed Time and Talent

Beth Cirelli, Designer ~ Simplee You
I work with Beth at Instron and was able to convince her to help with the initial design elements of the site and logo. From her concepts we expanded and fleshed out the rest of the site:) She's also a great sounding board for design and marketing stuff I have to work up! A good collaborator with a creative mind:)
Good URL, Bad URL ~ GoodURLBadURL.com
The folks over at GoodURLBadURL who gave us a thumbs up:)
"His site sells comic art so the domain name is a nice fit as is that sharp angular font. And, of course, making the first letter of each word bigger gives the separation needed for ease of readability. This URL is well-written."
Katie James Pixelated ~ katie-james.com
Katie is one of my oldest web compatriots, and has been prodding me on with this project for years. Oh, and she introduced me to Kaluta, who did the homepage drawing! She's also a social guru on the web and knows tons of stuff I don't, plus she's always willing to review or give feedback on things:) One of our best cheerleaders and inspirers:) And on top of all that? She's designs cool clothing for people and dogs!!

Online Companies/Sites Who Contributed Support

Comic Art Community, Comic Art Auctions & Galleries ~ ComicArtCommunity.com
Terry has been a great pal that welcomed and encouraged me into the online world of comic art sites. While I'd been a fan for ages, this was my first real attempt at running a full fledged online destination, and his knowledge and wisdom has been appreciated:) And the advertising that helped bring so many people to the site!
Serendipity Art Sales/Comic Art House ~ serendipityartsales.net, comicarthouse.com
Bob and Kim over at Serendipity Art Sales and Comic Art House were nice enough to throw up big banner links to my site from the moment I talked to them. I thought this was super nice of them when I first started, so I wanted to make sure I thanked them for the support:)
Instron ~ Instron.com
The happy people I work with during the daytime hours have all been supporting me in this project and I'm sure they're sick of me talking about it! But they put up with it and are behind me it seems:)
